ACG Welcomes European Commission’s Decision on Titanium Dioxide in Pharmaceuticals

ACG, the world’s largest integrated supplier of pharmaceutical capsules and allied solutions, welcomes the European Commission’s recent announcement allowing the continued use of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) in medicinal products.

ACG has been deeply involved with this matter since the very inception of the concern, working on two fronts.
On one side, the company has invested in the development of TiO₂-free alternatives to support customer needs.
On the other, ACG has played a key role in educating the global pharmaceutical community on the scientific possibilities and limitations in addressing the challenge.

ACG is proud to have actively cooperated with the IQ Consortium, comprising 21 multinational pharmaceutical companies, in the creation of a robust database on the potential impact of a ban on TiO₂ in medicines. This scientific body of evidence played a vital role in informing the European Commission’s decision-making process.

“This is a wise and pragmatic decision for the pharmaceutical sector,” Subhashis Chakraborty, General Manager, Head – Global Product Management at ACG Capsules said. “We remain fully committed to supporting the nutraceutical industry in navigating the ongoing ban through innovative TiO₂-free capsule solutions.”
